POZ Playlist: Joyce Manor, Algernon Cadwallader

propertyofzack:

Joyce Manor and Algernon Cadwallader are heading out on tour together in just a few days, and we’re stoked to be bringing you a brand new PropertyOfZack Playlist to help promote the tour. Make sure you’re up to date on the tour routing here and check out the Playlists and listen to the songs on Spotify while reading everyone’s thoughts!

Hop Along - Young and Happy!

Frances Quinlan has been releasing records for a few years now, and this is her first record with a full band. This is the album of the year!
Royal Headache - Down the Lane
Royal Headache is an Australian garage punk band. Their singer has the vocal delivery of an R&B singer and their live set has the energy of a hardcore band. Fucking fantastic!
Hysterese - Vogue
I started paying attention to this band last year when I heard their demo tape. I haven’t found a whole lot of information about them, but they are from Germany and their new LP kills it. I love the male/female vocals.
Condition - Accepted Farce
Raw, powerful d - beat in the style of Anti - Cimex or Framtid. One of the best punk bands in LA right now. Members of Trash Talk, DNF, and Kruel.
Skizophrenia - Future
Ripping raw punk band from Tsuyama, Japan. They are noisy without sounding inaudible and draw plenty of influences from early 80s Finnish hardcore. Their live set is KILLER.
Death Side - No Laughing Matter
THE seminal Japanese hardcore band of the late 80s/early 90s! Members went on to form such other legendary bands as Forward, Paintbox, and Judgement.
Korea Girl - Reunion
Korea Girl was a really great indie pop band that existed from 1995 - 1998. They released a 7” and a full length on Asian Man Records, both of which were vastly underrated. Maybe if a few hundred people ask about it, Mike Park will press it on vinyl finally!
BUST! - Who Wants To Fuck Bill Rogers?
While we’re on the topic of underrated bands, let’s talk about Chicago’s BUST! Short, sweet, and snotty punk rock in true Chicago tradition. Some of the best guys you’ll ever meet, too.
Chokehold - Content With Dying
I love Chokehold for their overtly political subject matter and great lyrics. The music can sound pretty dated at times, but the recording is just noisy and sludgy enough, and the vocals are full of enough conviction to set this band apart from most other 90s hardcore bands. Great record!
Lost Tribe - White Noise
The best way I can describe Lost Tribe is The Mob meets Christian Death, with the energy of Discharge. This Richmond band has an LP, as wells as a couple of demo tapes out (all of which are fantastic).

Elvis Costello & the Attractions - Really Mystified

I saw Elvis cover “Hey bulldog” and it was amazing. Then i heard his cover of this mediocre 60’s pop tune and turn it into total head bopper.
The Queers - Love Love Love: I didn’t care at all about getting made fun of in 7th grade for wearing a Queers t shirt, mostly i was just confused as to how they didn’t like the Queers.
Dr. Dog - Nobody Knows Who You Are
Stevie Wonder sings “Just because a record has a groove / Don’t make it in the groove.” i think he would agree that this song is in the groove. Pretty darn good for Eric’s first recording with the band.
The Beatles - Please Please Me *Song is not on Spotify
The catchiness plus the simplicity of this song make me…. me.
Braid - The New Nathan Detroits
The first thing you hear are the drums, the first thing i hear are the drums.
The Beach Boys - I Get Around
This song plays as my alarm. You’d think I’d hate it but its quite the opposite. The power of melody and harmony all wrapped into one.
